Yulia Koktysh, head of Mikhailov & Partner’s Public Affairs practice, has taken part in a round table on Communications Projects as a Vital Element of Youth Policy, held on 26th April 2016 in the Small Hall of the Russian Federation State Duma. The event was organized by the State Duma’s Committee for Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs and the International Association of Student Television.
The round table involved State Duma deputies, representatives of major Russian companies, youth associations and public organizations, the vice-chancellors and heads of media centres of leading Russian universities and institutes, heads of student councils and sport associations, and leaders of the volunteer movement.
Opening the meeting, Dmitry Svischev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs, stressed the unifying role of the event, which has become a debating platform for officials of the executive and legislative branches, young people and students. The participants discussed the problems and prospects of implementing the government’s youth policy in the current environment, exchanged views on best public and corporate practices in youth work, topical international communications projects and platforms for running bilateral youth exchange programmes, and examined the role of communications projects in promoting a healthy lifestyle among young people.
During the round table, Yulia Koktysh delivered a paper entitled “Strategic Planning of Communications Campaigns for Young People”, in which she noted: “Working with young people is about working with the culture of the “future”, and this underlines the importance of strategic planning when drawing up projects involving the young generation. No less important is engaging young people in an interactive dialogue with government official and experts from the business community. Holding events like this has a colossal educational impact, giving the young generation a unique opportunity to make the necessary contacts, to find likeminded people, and to gain knowledge for personal and professional development.”
Also during the round table, Maria Markova, Mikhailov & Partners’ Senior Manager, External and Internal Communications, received a commendation from the Committee for her commitment to working with young people and her work on communications projects focused on the development and social adaptation of the younger generation.
