Mikhailov & Partners Astana EXPO-2017 Project Shortlisted for SABRE Awards EMEA 2018

The international communications campaign to promote the Astana EXPO-2017 exhibition by a team from Mikhailov & Partners Strategic Communications has been shortlisted for the SABRE Awards EMEA 2018 in the “Branded Journalism” category.

“It’s a great honour for us to be shortlisted for such a prestigious global award as the SABRE Awards EMEA. Such high praise from the international awards jury confirms the high standard of strategic planning, creativity and effectiveness of our team’s work. We look forward to the awards ceremony and hope that our colleagues win!” said Ellen Pinchuk, Deputy CEO of Mikhailov & Partners Strategic Communications.

During the project, specialists from Mikhailov & Partners Strategic Communications ran a large-scale multi-channel communications campaign to cover the event at the international level. The exhibition was promoted using the full range of PR and marketing tools, from organising press tours, initiating publications and communication support for EXPO-2017’s participation in events in other countries to working with the expert community and an extensive advertising campaign (airports, in-flight magazines, adverts on TV, online, press and SMM). Amongst the noteworthy communication achievements was the airing of a 44-minute documentary film entitled “Megastructures: Astana, City of the Future” on the National Geographic TV channel, produced with the direct involvement of the Mikhailov & Partners team, and a number of  special projects with major foreign media including the BBC, CNBC, TV5 Monde and The New York Times.

The team from Mikhailov & Partners Strategic Communications succeeded in shaping Astana EXPO-2017’s image as the year’s biggest “green” energy event, where over 115 countries and 22 international organisations showcased the very latest technological innovations, and where everyone had an opportunity to get a glimpse of the future. In addition, the project team managed to draw considerable attention to the tourism and investment potential of Kazakhstan in general Astana in particular.

The international jury, which included over 40 recognised communications industry leaders, selected the competition finalists from more than 2,500 entrants. The winners of the SABRE Awards EMEA 2018 will be announced on 23rd May at a special ceremony in Amsterdam.
