On July 24, 2004, the press-briefing featuring Irina Viner, chief trainer of Russian rhythmic gymnastics team, Alina Kabaeva and Irina Tchachina, Russian leading athletes, was held in the Centre of Russian Olympic Team set up in "Detskiy Mir" department store.
Russian rhythmic gymnastics team is considered to be on of the teams most likely to win the gold medals at the Olympic games, but according to Irina Viner, the competition would be quite tough because of Ukrainian and Belorussian teams and Aliya Usupova, talented gymnast from Kazakhstan.
"The competition started for us at the European Championship in Kiev. That was a rehearsal before the Olympic games. Our main competitors took part in this championship, but our girls showed quite good results. Kabaeva became a European champion for the fifth time, winning 2 points over her nearest competitor." - said Irina Viner.
According to Irina Viner, moral and strong-willed training of gymnasts dominates over technical and physical training at this stage.
Information support of the "Centre of Russian Olympic Team" activities is provided by "Mikhailov & Partners. Strategic Communication Management".
