Mikhailov & Partners manages Veliky Novgorod
Honoured as the cradle of Russian democracy, the city celebrated its birthday on a truly national scale. Among the guests were President Dmitry Medvedev, Patriarch Cyril I of Moscow and All Russia, State Duma speaker Boris Gryzlov, local presidential envoy Ilya Klebanov, deputy prime minister Alexander Zhukov, filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov, St Petersburg governor Valentina Matvienko, other regional chief executives, city mayors, government ministers, and about 600 other officials. During the three days of festivities, the city’s numerous music venues hosted performances by Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Anna Netrebko, Denis Matsuev, Svyatoslav Belza, Nikolai Rastorguyev, Yury Laptev, Mikhail Davydov, Dmitry Kogan, Nadezhda Babkina, and others. Over 50 thousand people came to the river Volkhov to see a laser and fireworks show. The anniversary event was covered by more than 250 Russian and foreign journalists.
Mikhailov & Partners Strategic Communications Management, which had won a public tender in April 2009 to manage the celebration, was in acharge of the main formal events, entertainment programme, guest relations, press centre operation, the publicity campaign in Moscow, and all sponsorship issues. The event was sponsored by Lukoil, Onexim Group, Russian Railways, St Petersburg Power Distribution Company, and Coca-Cola.
